Hello All,
I have a pair of zills that i use to perform, but they are so crappy! I am willing to spend however much money to get some QUALITY zills that will last me a long time and make a better sound. I really like the sound of the zills that Rachel uses. Anyone know where those are from? Where i can get a similar pair? and yes i like that they are huge, cause it makes a statement. :)

Mon, June 16, 2008 - 6:26 PMcorrect me if I'm wrong, but I believe Rachel uses Saroyan's 'Al Taj' finger cymbals. It's the largest size that they have, and you can practically eat off those things they're so big!!

Mon, June 16, 2008 - 7:52 PMI have four pair of Saroyan's (not these ones) but they are all fantastic - if you are not used to the big ones, you can work your way up . You can check out the various types here including the sound

Thu, June 19, 2008 - 6:10 PMI thought Rachel uses Saroyan's Afghani zills. The Afghani's are my favorite for tribal stuff - the sound is wonderful! I use those and the Arabesque II's for Cabaret. I've got Al-Taj's, but I only use those when I'm playing along with musicians (not dancing)

Wed, June 18, 2008 - 5:58 PMI still suck at playing zills but I LOVE my Saroyan Dervish zills... I think they might be one size down from the ones Rachel uses.
