I hope that others will get these because they've really helped me understand and explain better the mechanics behind stretching and yoga poses as related to bellydance. These will really help you understand why your body does what it does and how it does it, I have a new understanding of why I can't lay back on the floor all the way when sitting on my knees, pretty interesting stuff, enjoy!

I also got the book that Miz Brice recommended for yoga and it's very good as well, it's Yoga For Wellness : www.amazon.com/gp/product...992-9054818

I have one that I love from my kinesiology class in massage school. It's called Trail Guide to the Body. Also, one of my teachers highly recommended Anatomy Trains. I can't vouch for it yet, because I can't afford to spend $75 on it right now, but I may ask for it for xmas. :)

Also- if the BodyWorlds exhibit ever comes to a city near you- GO!! I learned soooo much. I was afraid to eat anything remotely bad for a week and I quit smoking. (Although I've slipped a few times). But to actally see real human musculature... is indescribable. I don't have words. But I learned a lot!

Anatomy of movement is very good, same goes for anatomy of breathing by the same author.

My favourite on yoga anatomy is Anatomy of Hatha Yoga: A Manual for Students, Teachers, and Practitioners by H. David Coulter.

Also Susi Hately Aldous books are amazing.

Oh, hey, just for the record - Anatomy Trains is about myofascial tissue, not muscles. However, an understanding of this may help you free up tension and stiffness that appears to be muscular, but is instead, the surrounding tissue binding the muscle.

I, too, really want to see that exhibit. I had planned to see it when it went to Seattle and I was living in Portland, but didn't make it.

Thanks for the suggestions! I've started doing yoga fairly recently and it's slow learning process as I try to figure out exactly what muscles I'm releasing or contracting.
