Hello Rachel.
Although we don't get the chance to see each other much. I love connecting with you. On of my heros, Beah Richards had a docuementary done as she neared th end of her life. In these interviews she spoke some of the most powerful words that I have ever heard & they stick with me today. I have a clip for you that I'd like to share. I know teaching, performing, & creating can be very hard, but it is the stress that comes along with criticisizing ourself that hurts us the most. Check out minute 3:45 & you'll find some words that I think ring true for you. Not "you" in general, but "you" specifically! I hope you like it.
All my love,
-----Frank

Fri, May 2, 2008 - 3:56 PMI really, really enjoyed watching Beah.
I ended up watching all 5 of the parts. It was moving. There were parts I was smiling and parts I was crying. What an amazing woman. I hope in my lifetime I can accomplish 1/100 of what she did.
Thanks for sharing.

Re: Some Words for My Dearest Rachel...
Sun, May 4, 2008 - 9:11 AMOh man--- Would someone please clariy what she is saying there?? I have watched it over 5 times and I cant quite make out her words---Its gets very roboty sounding and I cant get her words....
"When i was on stage.........." ?
And Beulah has ALWAYS been one of my favorite names on Earth. It was the name of the town we used to summer vacation in when I was a kid...... Makes me think of glittery lake water, sunscreen, water wings and cans of Orange soda. :) -

Re: Some Words for My Dearest Rachel...
Sun, May 4, 2008 - 10:09 AMParaphrasing here, essentially she is saying that when she was on stage she was a complete and whole being. That when the curtain goes down she was left with the question of "Who am I"

Re: Some Words for My Dearest Rachel...
Sun, May 4, 2008 - 11:23 PM"The question a human being has to answer is: Who or what am I? I had experiences on the stage that I didn't were possible, & then a strange happened. On the stage I was complete & perfect, lacking no essential characteristic nothin'. The curtain came down &... Who am I? Who am I?" -
