Re: Extremely flexible girl
Sun, April 8, 2007 - 10:45 AMWhat I wanna know, is how she doesn't crunch any disks! -
-
Re: Extremely flexible girl
Sun, April 8, 2007 - 4:13 PMshe looks like one of those Russian gymnasts. Yes, she's certainly is flexible, but doesnt have the maturity to be really gracefull yet. Right now she seems to be all arms and legs, and elbows and knees. Give her a few years and then I would find this to be artfull and lovely. -

Re: Extremely flexible girl
Sun, April 8, 2007 - 4:39 PMWhile I do find good contortionists beautiful, something disturbs me about a chick who can sit on her own head. -

Re: Extremely flexible girl
Sun, April 8, 2007 - 5:16 PMto quote my husband,..."wow, she can even do the splits." -

Re: Extremely flexible girl
Fri, April 13, 2007 - 8:58 AMThat's the appeal to me--it's very colty and frolicksome. I have no doubt that if she wanted to change up the routine and make it more mature that she could do it.

Re: Extremely flexible girl
Mon, April 9, 2007 - 11:24 AMwhoa...that was pretty incredible...
what's really sad, however, are the sick comments that people wrote under the video on that site. The toilet paper comment takes the prize. -
-
Re: Extremely flexible girl
Mon, April 9, 2007 - 12:38 PMyeah, the comments really show how dumb some people are.
I am thinking maybe she has something goin on in her genetics to allow her to do this. Some crazy recessive gene or what have you....
I know a few contortionists, and I don't know if they could do anything quite like this -
-
Re: Extremely flexible girl
Mon, April 9, 2007 - 1:06 PMThere are some neat medical studies out on this, and the genetic trait generally tends to run more often (although not always) through Russians and Chinese. Basically the ligaments and tendons have longer and stretchier "strands". They had a really cool special on PBS about contortionists. -

Re: Extremely flexible girl
Mon, April 9, 2007 - 3:02 PMThere is some info on this gal out there. She's russian, there's quite a few other youtube videos out there of her too. I'll go see what I can find. -

Extremely flexible girl
Thu, April 12, 2007 - 4:45 PMI'm amazed that ANYONE'S back allows for that. I get the tendon strand concept, but what about her back? It hurts me! BTW- did anyone see the comment about how she should've been in Silent Hill? That movie actually auditioned dancers to play the creatures so that they could find people who just move freakily (is that a word?)- she would've been perfect. -
-
Re: Extremely flexible girl
Fri, April 13, 2007 - 9:32 AMDid they really? Nifty. I'm not a horror film fan (I run away screaming at the thought of a scary plot, lol) but it's great to know that they're spending some of their budgets on dancers!

Re: Extremely flexible girl
Thu, April 12, 2007 - 8:38 PMI've seen this before too... she looks like liquid. I did read somewhere that contortionists have a relatively short life span, this kind of thing actually does damage to internal organs over time.
-
Re: Extremely flexible girl
Fri, April 13, 2007 - 10:36 AMMan even the parts with no joints look bendy! -
-
Re: Extremely flexible girl
Sun, April 15, 2007 - 2:36 AMI've read up on contortion, not a lot, but some, I heard they have a normal life span. Where did you read about the short life expectancy? I'm not saying I don't believe you or anything, just curios cuz I'd like to read it too. Most of what I've read up on says that it is good for the body, anyone can do it (of course someone with a healthy body), that you can start at any age, and that all it takes is some time and practice. If you don't remember, that's fine, but I would be interested if you do. Thanks! -

Re: Extremely flexible girl
Sun, April 15, 2007 - 1:35 PMyeah, it wasn't on the internet it was possibly when I was reading through our circus insuranse papers. I'll ask my partner if he remembers, he read it too.
